Holidays to Australia
Ask anyone who has been lucky enough to take a holiday to Australia and they’ll be falling over themselves to tell you what a great time they had there, with a warm and welcoming culture, and the weather to match. This vast and spectacular country might better be called a continent, with huge deserts and a coastal fringe of populous cities sporting great culture and vibrant attractions. Australia feels like a home from home, and yet so far removed from the stresses and strains of everyday life; here things happen at a more relaxed pace, giving you more time to soak up the sun and the wonderful atmosphere.5 great reasons to take a holiday in Australia
- Uluru (also known as Ayer’s Rock) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This sacred sandstone rock features ancient Aboriginal paintings and enchanting caves.
- The Great Barrier Reef is made up of over 900 islands and can be seen from space. Go snorkelling or take a diving lesson and you’ll encounter turtles, dolphins and over 1,000 species of tropical fish!
- Spectacular rainforest walks including the Gondwana Rainforests of New South Wales where you can view ethereal waterfalls and spot rare species of plants and animals.
- Over 70 stunning beaches that offer perfect ivory sand and views of the crystal clear ocean. Visit the iconic Bondi Beach, a magnet for surfers and sun seekers, or discover your own private beach at one of Australia’s hidden coves.
- Australia’s cities are buzzing with arts and culture. Visit the iconic Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, tour one of the many Aboriginal art galleries and museums or experience a sporting event, Aussie-style.
Australian adventure
With such an impressive and varied landscape, Australia lends itself to a whole host of activities. Sail around the beautiful Whitsunday Islands where you can snorkel and dive amongst the Great Barrier Reef, or charter a canoe through Katherine Gorge. If you are seeking an adrenaline rush why not sky dive from 14,000 ft over Brisbane’s Moreton Bay or go white water rafting along the rapids of the Tully River in Cairns? Head to the Outback for the ultimate Australian adventure with an array of desert activities on offer including camel rides, rally driving and cattle droving.
Laid-back lifestyle
Australians are famous for their relaxed attitude to life and it is not hard to see why; with over 70 beautiful beaches on your doorstop and year-round sunshine, there’s no better place to take it easy! Enjoy the fresh ocean air and the sun on your face at one of the iconic surfing beaches such as Byron Bay, Bondi and Manly. For secluded picnics under the sun, head to one of the uninhabited Whitsunday Island beaches such as Whitehaven where you will encounter a true paradise.
Epicurean delights abound in Australia; visit Swan Valley to sample some of Australia’s award-winning wine, enjoy fresh seafood with breathtaking beach views along the Gold Coast or experience high-end gourmet pleasure in the Yarra Valley.
Forget surfing, Australia is a shopper’s paradise! From vintage markets to luxury boutiques, Australia’s towns and cities are a haven for unique fashion and unusual gifts. Sydney is famous for its eclectic mix of retro Paddington markets and chic Castlereagh St designers whereas Melbourne is home to the renowned Rose Street Artist’s Market, where you can purchase anything and everything including handmade gifts, eccentric collectables and original artwork.
