Things to do whilst on holiday
Here in Montreal, 17th century romantic charm sits side by side with cutting-edge innovation, the both chiming in perfect harmony. Whether you want to admire the impressive architecture of the famous Olympic Stadium, pick up a fashion piece in the 12km Underground City shopping mall, or wander through the streets of Old Town, here there is so much to see and do that you will be hard pressed to fit it all in.
In between visiting the boutiques and restaurants in Old Montreal, a stop-off in the Pointe-à-Callière Museum is a must for all culture vultures. This museum will take you through the diverse history of this town through archaeological studies and artefacts, following which you can walk in the footsteps of those you learn about with a trip to the breathtaking Notre Dame Basilica.
Elsewhere in the city you will find a whole host of museums, monuments and galleries that are well worth a visit, including the Montreal Museum of the Fine Arts where you'll see almost 36,000 pieces from both Canadian and International artists, and the fascinating Montreal Biodome, that recreates the world’s four ecosystems. But aside from the nitty gritty of the museums and cultural attractions, there is one thing that is definitely not to be missed when on holiday in Montreal. For a real treat, hike, bike, or take a bus to the summit of Mont Royal where you will gasp in awe at the astonishing views of this mighty city. Here you will also find Mont Royal Park, whose lake, playground, and pretty pathways were the brainchild of Frederick Law Olmsted, designer of Central Park in New York.
Weather
