If you’re looking for variety in the Caribbean, Bahamas Holidays are among the best that this colourful region has to offer. Stretching alongside the east coast of Florida down towards the large islands of Cuba and the Domincan Republic, the Bahamas are a commonwealth nation of 29 islands and several thousand cays and islets. The Bahamas are perhaps the archetypical Caribbean holiday destination: named after the shallow waters that of much of the chain, this is a paradise dotted with desert islands and longer stretches of reef-encircled, pink-sanded beach.

After all, we know that Christopher Columbus’s first landfall in the ‘new world’ was on the island of San Salvador (though historians aren’t in agreement whether this is the modern day island of this name, or one of its neighbours). Though Columbus left without making a permanent mark on these islands, the rest of history ensures that there is plenty to see and do. The Bahamas were the haven of Blackbeard and subsequently, the British and both piracy and colonial history inspire modern day attractions, including monuments and museums.
