Dating back to the 1960s, the hotel itself has a very rich history. Built by Lu Ban Hap, an architect well known to contemporaries, the hotel was a glorious statement of optimism for Cambodia's future. However, during the ruthless Khmer Rouge regime it was used as military barracks and it was only in late 1990s that a new epoch of its history started.

Today, Cambodiana balances modernity with its Khmer heritage, elegance with cosiness, and its hospitality is unmatched in the area.
