Amansara

Amansara angkor wat

Amansara Overview

On the edge of Siem Reap, Cambodia's cultural capital, lies the splendid jewel of Amansara. This true gem of a resort is a sophisticated retreat, a discovery in its own right.

Winner of various awards, the resort has kept its promise to its own royal beginnings. Built in the 1960s by French architect Laurent Mondet and having served as a royal guest villa for Cambodia's King Norodom Sihanouk, today the luxury Amansara resort remains archetypically sixties in spirit and architecture, yet modern in everything else.

Cambodia's heritage is in the resort's very name which is derived from the words aman, meaning peace in sanskrit, and apsara, the heavenly nymphs. So perhaps it's no wonder guests use Amansara as a peaceful oasis and a sophisticated basis for explorations of all sorts.

Only 10 minutes away from the famous Angkor temples, designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, Amansara is a perfect starting point for a trip of Cambodian discoveries. As a guest at Amansara you are invited to various excursions to the temples including Angkor Wat, the most breathtaking of all, built by the Khmers in the 12th century.

Among other activities at Amansara you will find swimming pools, a spa, a library and a roof terrace, where you can practise yoga at sunrise.
