A trip to China would be incomplete without visiting the Forbidden City, located in the heart of Beijing for over 500 years it was closed off to the world and thus gaining its iconic name. Nowadays you can immerse yourself in the rich history and be amazed by the preserved ancient buildings and concubines enveloped by courtyards and lush greens of immaculate gardens.
If you feel like a night on the tiles or an evening nightcap head over to the Legation Quarter where you will find beautifully restored embassy buildings that now host a collection of bars and restaurants.
If you are an early riser at the weekend take a trip to the Panjiyuan Flea Market. This place is humungous, selling everything from antiques and paintings to artefacts and fakes from the Tang and Ming dynasties.
