The Andaman Langkawi Overview
Situated on the fringes of an ancient tropical rainforest 25 km from Langkawi International Airport, The Andaman, a Luxury Collection Resort is tucked between the majestic Mat Cincang Mountain Range and the glistening turquoise waters of the Andaman Sea.
The lush foliage around the hotel is home to some of the most amazing wildlife including the great hornbill, the dusky leaf monkey, the rare colugo (flying lemur of South East Asia), macaques, lizards and geckos, a wide variety of birds and over 300 species of butterflies. A wide variety of on-site activities are available for guests, from educational nature walks to relaxing on the beach enjoying the range of non-motorised water sports available. A uniquely located spa perched on the hillside with spectacular vistas of Datai Bay, offers guests pampering massages and treatments.
The Andaman is not only blessed with a stunning 10 million year old verdant rainforest as its backdrop, but beneath the glistening waters of the bay fronting the resort lies another underwater rainforest – a coral reef estimated to be between 6,000 and 8,000 years old. The reef provides a great trail for reef walks where one can learn more about marine biology.
The Andaman Langkawi Activities
With exclusive access to Datai Bay, considered Langkawi's most desirable beach, and surrounded by one of the world's most ancient rainforests, the Gunung Mat Chinchang rainforest, The Andaman has a truly unique setting with a fascinating variety of flora and fauna. Guests can explore the local area on the hotel's mountain bikes or the marked jogging tracks and bird watchers will appreciate Gunung Raya, the highest point of the rainforest to observe the wildlife above the rainforest canopy with magnificent views. The 18 hold championship Datai Bay Golf Club is adjacent to the resort and many of the local scenic attractions including cascading waterfalls, caves, markets and cultural centre are all easily reached by car or organised tours. A complimentary shuttle service is available between the resort and the town or the Pantai Cenang area.
Other facilities/activities at The Andaman include a 24 hour fitness centre, 24 hour business centre, jogging trails, gift shop, hair salon and an award-winning spa. Water sports available include windsurfing, catamaran sailing, and canoeing. Complimentary morning and evening nature walks as well as coral reef walks during periods of low-tide offer guests great insight into the abundance of nature surrounding the resort. The newly introduced Bamboo Cineplex on Sunday nights provide great entertainment for all the family.
The Kids’ Club is colourful, inviting and full of toys - ideal for children from 4 to 12. For the early teens there is a playstation, an X-box and a selection of other games. The Games Room offers billiards, cable television with a wide range of channels, a mini library and a range of board games.
