Holidays to Koh Phangan

A holiday in Koh Phangan can be as relaxing or as adventurous as you desire. Lounge on colourful hammocks, slung and tied between the islands’ palms and swaying in the sultry air, as your Koh Phangan holidays pass by in tropical bliss. Or, to pack your trip upon this wonderful little island with a little more punch, why not experience the full moon party on Haad Rin beach (consisting of two small beaches on the southern side of the island). Try to coincide your visit for the once monthly wild beach party and enjoy a few drinks (known as buckets) as you’re swathed in a moonlight glow. You’ll be partying all night as the tide comes and goes underfoot.

Discover the Koh Phangan Full Moon

With anything between 10,000 to 30,000 people descending upon the beaches of Koh Phangan, glimpsing the full moon and partying all night. You’ll be bathed in lunar splendour and you'll meet like-minded partygoers to share each moment. As twilight filters over the horizon, slowly permeating the shoreline, small tables are set with thousands of lamps in anticipation of the evening to come. Watch fire-eaters and jugglers as the moon shows its glowing form and the music begins to provide the rhythms to your evening.

If you’re after the finer luxuries in life then let Kenwood Travel take you to the most exclusive and elegant resorts on the island. With long tail boats rocking subtly in the shallow shores as you lie upon the beach with the forested hilltops in the background, your break in the tropics will be unforgettable.

Things to do whilst on holiday

Explore the islands beauty and book a tour, or simply hike to your hearts content while you create your own views and perspectives to photograph for the eyes of posterity. This wonderful island presides over some of the most beautiful scuba locations in all of Thailand (although, you’ll be hard pressed not to find a great scuba spot in the country).

Why not mix it up and get some healthy instruction to take back home with you. You’ll be able to find yoga classes everywhere, but how about trying Agama Yoga situated in the north-westerly region of the island.

The food in this part of Thailand is utterly exquisite; try the Indian cuisine from Om Ganesh, luxurious culinary delights from Me’n’u, or a vegetarian option at Umi-Vegetarian.

Interesting facts about Koh Phangan

  • Area – 168 sq kilometres
  • Highest point – Khao Ra
  • Population – 11,900
  • Currency – Baht

Weather

We recommend that visitors visit this wonderful island during its high season from December to March. You’ll notice that at this time the water levels are high and very clean, making for the perfect casual swimming conditions (it also helps that the Gulf of Thailand is so warm!). This brings us to the days between April and June – or, dry season – where shallow waters make it quite difficult to take a dip in the sea. However, visitors should be aware that the days after, between July and August, offer another high season after the dry temperatures when the water rises again and the weather stays rather pleasant.

Koh Phangan Holidays 2012

Early bookings can lock-in trips for 2012 and 2013, as Kenwood Travel can help plan for amazing all inclusive holidays, weddings and honeymoons. To avoid disappointment you’ll have to book early!
