Description / Location

This compact resort is set into a hillside amid gardens and waterfalls. Orchids bloom in the open-air, marble-floor lobby; a two-story coral-stone atrium is adjacent. The resort faces a 400-m (437-yd) beach, where cream-colored sand meets the Caribbean Sea. A water-sports center supplies complimentary kayaks, boogie boards, and snorkeling gear; other water-sport gear is available with surcharges. Three pools include one with a children’s section; one paired with a toddlers' pool; one that is adults-only and has a swimup bar.

Accommodations

This resort offers 138 studios and suites in three- and four-story buildings (no elevators) with pastel gingerbread trim. Patios or balconies feature views of the ocean, pool, or garden and are furnished with four-chair dining sets and lounge chairs (ocean view not guaranteed). Decor includes floral fabrics, rattan furnishings, tile floors, and silk flowers. All accommodations have kitchens or kitchenettes; other amenities include TV with US/international cable channels; VCRs, and video-game consoles (surcharge/rental videos are available). Ceiling fans supplement air conditioning. Smoking is permitted only on balconies or patios.

Lanterns By The Sea - Open-air, seaside restaurant with wood-beam ceiling. Buffet and à la carte breakfasts. Lunch choices including samosas, fish cakes, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, pasta, pizza. Dinner menu including jerk pork chops, steak, garlic shrimp, and fish. Barbecue buffet with steel band Monday evenings. Caribbean buffet with floor show Thursday evenings.
Water's Edge - Open-air beachfront restaurant serving dinner. Colorful wooden building with fretwork, wooden floor. International / Caribbean menu including lobster, shrimp, fish, steak, chicken, pasta. (Closed Fridays.)
Pool Bar - Casual spot with swimup side. Open from mid-morning to late night for tropical drinks, beer.

Activities

The resort faces a 400-m (437-yd) beach of cream-colored sand along the Caribbean Sea. A water-sports center provides complimentary kayaks, boogie boards, and snorkeling gear. For surcharges, the center also offers personal watercraft, windsurfers, surfboards, sailboats, water skiing, tubing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, kite surfing, surf biking, banana-boating, and snorkeling excursions. Three pools are arrayed along the beachfront. One freeform pool meanders 24.5 m (80 ft) through gardens and alongside rock-garden waterfalls and includes a separate children's section. A 16.75-m (55-ft) freeform adults-only pool contains a swimup bar. A 12.25-m (40-ft) rectangular pool is paired with a raised toddlers' pool. The air-conditioned fitness center contains cardio machines, resistance equipment, and free weights. Aerobics classes are available for a surcharge. A game room has complimentary pool, foosball, and air-hockey tables. Use of a lighted tennis court, a shuffleboard court, and a giant outdoor chess set is complimentary. Barbados Golf Club, 2.75 km (1.75 mi) away, offers guest discounts.
