5* Colony Club
Description / Location
Restored and enlarged, this 7-acre former private club is secluded at the end of a long driveway lined by Casuarina trees. The hotel attracts couples and families with older children seeking beach vacations that combine tranquil sunbathing with water sports. Children under age 12 are not permitted during February. Thickly cushioned lounge chairs cosset sunbathers along the hotel's beachfront and around four narrow, rock-lined, freeform pools—one with swim-up bar—in a central garden courtyard. Complimentary water sports include snorkeling excursions, boat cruises, water skiing, tubing, and banana-boating, as well as snorkeling gear, kayaks, sailboats, boogie boards, and windsurfers.
Accommodations
The hotel offers 96 guestrooms and suites in four two-story buildings and two three-story buildings (no elevators), all of them white with pink or white lattice trim and all facing a long, narrow central courtyard containing pools and gardens. Rooms and suites' white walls, tile floors, and bedspreads serve as backdrops for floral-motif throw pillows and drapes; straw-mat area rugs; bleached, cappuccino-colored furniture; upholstered chairs with ottomans; and nature prints on walls. Louvered panels and front doors combine with ceiling fans to offer a cooling alternative to rooms and suites' air conditioning. Electrical kettles heat water for instant coffee and tea. EphéMer toiletries come from London. Pillowtop mattresses provide slumber comfort.

Activities
The Caribbean Sea gently washes the hotel's 400-m (437-yd) beach, with casuarina trees and umbrellas shading thickly cushioned lounge chairs. Cushioned lounge chairs also ring four narrow, rock-lined, freeform pools—each approximately 27.5m (90 ft) long—in a courtyard running through the hotel's center. The courtyard contains rock waterfalls, flower gardens, and tall palms and mahogany trees. The pool nearest the beach features a swim-up bar. The hotel provides 30-minute snorkeling excursions to a nearby sunken barge and 30-minute boat cruises along the coast—both complimentary. Also complimentary are water skiing, tubing, and banana-boating as well as snorkeling gear, kayaks, sailboats, boogie boards, and windsurfers. Independent operators on the beach rent out personal watercraft and offer parasailing. On request, other independent operators pick up guests for scuba lessons, certification classes, and excursions. Use of two lighted tennis courts and a basketball hoop is complimentary. The nearest golf courses are at Sandy Lane 3 km (2 mi) away.
