Discreetly one of the most exclusive small hotels in the West Indies, the Sandpiper is the perfect vacation hideaway on the West Coast of Barbados - one of the most desirable islands in the Caribbean.

A charming hotel with great attention to detail and guest welfare. The Sandpiper is a member of the Elegant Resorts of Barbados and, together with their associate hotel, the Coral Reef Club, are the only family owned and managed luxury resorts on the island. The Sandpiper is situated on a long white sandy bay, with the calm waters of James Beach. Swimming is excellent and a wide range of watersports are available. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from Holetown, where there are many restaurants, bars and shopping.     
  
Much of this hotel’s charm and style are attributed to Wayne and Karen Capaldi who run it with meticulous attention to detail without sacrificing the relaxed manner of the Caribbean. Combined with their staff’s enthusiasm for pampering their guests, this results in many appreciative visitors choosing to return year after year.

Accommodations

Garden rooms consists of air conditioned rooms, each with king or twin beds, bathroom and patio or balcony. These rooms can accommodate 2 adults.
   
Air conditioned one bedroomed accommodation with separate living room containing a sofa bed, kitchen, bathroom and patio or balcony. These suites can accommodate either 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children under 12 years. 
   
Spacious air conditioned two bedroomed accommodation with separate living room containing a sofa bed, kitchen, two bathrooms and large patio or balcony. These suites can accommodate up to 6 persons.
 
The two Tree Top Suites consist of a bedroom with four poster or canopied bed, spacious living room, a dressing area and a large bathroom with a big walk-in shower and separate tub - all air conditioned. Large covered terrace and open sundeck area with a pool which is approximately 12 feet by 9 feet by 3 feet deep. Featured in the living room is a television, DVD player, CD player and a selection of DVDs and CDs. There is also a complimentary starter bar. These suites both have views of the sea and can accommodate two adults.

All rooms described above are individually appointed and have wall safes, CD player/clock radios, fridges, toasters and hair dryers. Bathrooms have combination shower and tub. Indicate preference for king size or twin beds when booking.

All rooms and suites have lovely vistas, overlooking either the gardens, pool or Caribbean Sea. 

Restaurants & Bars

There is a tastefully designed bar and lounge with a Ralph Lauren inspired theme in cool blues and whites. Guests may enjoy cool tropical drinks here in a poolside setting.
 
There is also an informal beach bar called "Harold's Bar" located right by the calm Caribbean Sea. Named after a special member of staff, who was a recipient of the Caribbean Hotel Employee of the Year award for 2002, this bamboo fronted bar is a popular meeting place for guests.

The restaurant at the Sandpiper is renowned as being one of the finest on the island and the cuisine rates very highly, having won numerous awards. It has a West Indian theme with a limed vaulted ceiling, koi ponds and chunky trellis.

Sandpiper’s Executive Chef, Christophe Poupardin, offers eclectic menus with a combination of Caribbean and International influences. Dinner menus are written daily to ensure good variety and freshness of ingredients.

A popular feature with the guests is the exchange dining program whereby guests on the meal plan are able to dine at other luxury West Coast hotels.

Activities

Mosaic tiled swimming pool in tropical gardens, by the bar and restaurant. Fitness Centre - A personal trainer is available upon request at an additional fee. Two flood-lit tennis courts at the Sandpiper and there are two at their associate hotel, the Coral Reef Club.  The Sandpiper has its own watersports operation and offers complimentary: Waterskiing, windsurfing, snorkelling, kayaking, Hobiecat and Sunfish sailing. Scuba diving and deep sea fishing are also available at an additional charge. There is an underwater park situated off Coral Reef Club (5 minutes walk down the beach) which is excellent for diving and snorkelling. Babysitting available (charge), Playground.

Evening entertainment every evening during the winter and 3 - 4 evenings per week during the summer. Weekly Manager’s cocktail party followed by a buffet service. Weekly barbecues.
