Coralstone walls and pink-and-gray marble floors in an open-air lobby herald the relaxed, Mediterranean-Caribbean ambience at the hotel, which primarily attracts couples except for school-holiday seasons when families arrive. Calm-water swimming in most weather is available off the hotel's 137-m (150-yd) beachfront. Three pools—two with sea views and the third in an enclosed courtyard—provide freshwater swimming. Complimentary water sports include boat cruises and snorkeling excursions to a sunken barge. Also included are water skiing, tubing, banana-boating, snorkeling gear, kayaks, sailboats, boogie boards, and windsurfers. Locals and visitors gather Friday nights for music, dancing, beer, rum, and food such as grilled fish and barbecued chicken in an open-air "fish fry" (food shacks) adjacent to the daytime fish market at Oistins, 15.75 km (9.75 mi) from the resort. The hotel offers transportation (surcharge) to the fish fry.
Accommodations
Meals (but not drinks) are included in the room rate at this Full American Plan hotel. (Scroll down to the Dining section for restaurant/menu details.) The hotel offers 110 guestrooms and suites in four Mediterranean-style, three-story, cream-colored buildings (no elevators) with red-tile roofs. Balconies or ground-floor terraces are furnished with dining sets. Bathrooms are marble. English toiletries are by Gilchrist & Soames. Televisions offer U.S./international cable channels. Decor includes soft colors and rattan furniture. Compact refrigerators are stocked with minibar items on request. Smoking is permitted only on balconies and terraces.
Restaurants & Bars
At this Full American Plan hotel, meals (but not drinks) at the following restaurants are included in the room rate. Guests are not charged extra for three meals daily in the hotel's restaurants and for room service during meal times, but they must pay room-service delivery charges, and they must pay for room-service food if ordered at times other than meal times.
Tangier - Open-air restaurant with white-wood ceiling. Buffet breakfast and lunch. À la carte dinners five nights weekly during winter season. Open certain nights during other seasons. Monday night Caribbean buffet. Thursday night barbecue buffet. Live music some nights. Dress code: long pants, sleeved shirts, closed-toe shoes for men.
Sasso - Air-conditioned, octagonal dining room with wood ceiling and central aquarium. Also, poolside sea-view seating on terrace with cushioned alcove banquettes. Open for dinner daily during winter season; open certain nights during other seasons. Live music some nights. Dress code: long pants, sleeved shirts, closed-toe shoes for men.
Oasis Bar - Casual, open-air bar/lounge with white wood ceilings. Lunch menu of burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, barbecue buffet. Bar service from mid-morning to late night.
A complimentary cocktail party is provided each week.
Activities
The hotel's 137-m (150-yd) beachfront is furnished with lounge chairs. Three pools provide freshwater swimming. Two are shaped like 15.25-m-long (50-ft) snow figures and provide views of the Ocean. Featuring a water spout, the third has scalloped edges, measures approximately 10.75 by 10.75 m (35 by 35 ft), and lies in an enclosed courtyard. The hotel provides 30-minute snorkeling excursions to a nearby sunken barge and 30-minute boat cruises along the coast—both complimentary. Also complimentary are water skiing, tubing, and banana-boating as well as snorkeling gear, kayaks, sailboats, boogie boards, and windsurfers. Independent operators on the beach rent personal watercraft and offer parasailing. On request, other independent operators pick up guests for scuba lessons, certification classes, and excursions. Use of lighted tennis courts is complimentary at two West Coast partner hotels, Crystal Cove and Colony Club, with complimentary water-taxi service provided between mid-morning and mid-afternoon. The nearest golf courses are at Sandy Lane, 500m (547 yds) away.
