This intimate enclave is set in lush tropical gardens, with lawns leading down to ivory-colored sands and the Caribbean Sea. Although families arrive during winter and spring holidays, the hotel primarily attracts couples seeking utter relaxation in a tranquil setting, personal attention when they need it, and memorable meals interspersed with sun, sand, and sea. Al Fresco, the open-air, fine-dining restaurant, serves international cuisine with Caribbean influences; the menu focuses on local seafood and produce. A poolside barbecue buffet with live music is held Tuesday nights.

Accommodations

The hotel offers 29 large, one-bedroom suites in three buildings of two and three stories (no elevators). Furnished balconies and patios provide garden, pool, or ocean views. Sitting rooms have double sofa beds, wing chairs, and wet bars. Decor includes creamy coral-stone walls, bleached- or white-wood ceilings, ceramic-tile floors, bleached-wood furniture, and soft-toned fabrics. Bedrooms have air conditioners and ceiling fans. Sitting rooms are cooled by ceiling fans and fresh air through louvered wall panels. Bathrooms feature green-marble or mahogany vanities, twin above-counter basin sinks, glass-door shower stalls, and separate tubs. Plasma TVs offer U.S./international cable channels. Suites have electric kettles to brew tea and coffee.

Al Fresco - Split-level, open-air, fine-dining restaurant adjacent to pool. Creamy coral-stone walls, bleached-wood ceiling. Supervised by French chef Patrick Pouet. Buffet breakfast. Lunch choices such as Coconut-Milk-Poached Chicken Legs with Curry, Coconut Shrimp with Spicy Guava Sauce. Dinner choices such as Duck-Breast Salad, tuna carpaccio, Grilled Shrimp with Shellfish Bisque, lobster, rack of lamb. Nightly specials such as Asian-Spiced Crab Claws, Grilled Swordfish with Citrus Beurre Blanc. Tuesday-night poolside barbecue buffet with live music. Evening dress code: long pants, sleeved shirts for men; cocktail dresses or evening slacks for women.

Activities

The hotel faces a 75-m (82-yd) beach with ivory sands partly shaded by a majestic mahogany tree. A 12.75-m (42-ft) kidney-shaped pool is in a garden courtyard. The air-conditioned fitness center contains cardio machines and free weights. Guests enjoy complimentary use of snorkeling gear for exploring the clear Caribbean waters. The hotel offers a complimentary weekly catamaran cruise with stops for lunch and snorkeling with turtles. A water-sports center at an adjacent hotel offers snorkeling trips, water skiing, tubing, and banana-boating. It also rents kayaks, sailboats, boogie boards, and windsurfers. Independent operators on the beach rent personal watercraft and offer parasailing. The hotel can arrange scuba lessons, certification classes, and excursions. The scenic and challenging Sandy Lane Golf Courses are a half-km (547 yds) away.
