4.5* Royal by Rex Resorts
Description / Location
Popular with celebrating couples, this is the northernmost of three adjacent partner resorts along Reduit Beach. A breezy, marble-floored lobby with a peaked bleached-wood ceiling, and plush royal-purple seating heralds the style. (Partner resorts' guests are not permitted to use the pool and thatched beach shades at this resort.) A freeform pool contains a round swim-up bar. The pool deck has padded lounge chairs and pink umbrellas. Lapped by the Caribbean Sea, which remains calm here in most weather, Reduit Beach extends 800m (875 yds) past the resort, with the deepest and flattest section directly in front. Water sports (surcharges) available include both non-motorized and motorized. On Friday nights the town of Gros Islet features a jump up (street party) 2 km (1.25 mi) from the resort, with food and drink vendors and live music.
Accommodations
Royal by Rex Resorts offers 96 spacious suites in four sand-colored buildings of two and three stories, without elevators. Suites have large patios or balconies and raised, carpeted bedrooms that can be made private by closing louvered shutters and sheer curtains. Bathrobes supply lounging comfort. Minibars are stocked to guests' specifications. Televisions offer U.S./international cable channels. Coffee/tea makers are available on request. Decor includes hallway and sitting-area floors of Italian ceramic tile; light-pink walls with white crown molding and trim; and pale rattan furniture with thick cushions. Bathrooms contain two vanity sinks, tubs, and separate stall massage showers with vertical and horizontal showerheads.

Activities
A 32-m (105-ft) freeform pool contains a round swim-up bar under a wood-shingled roof at one end and a rock-garden waterfall island at the other. A children's section occupies one end of the pool. (The pool is reserved for this resort's guests and may not be used by guests of two partner resorts.) The sundeck surrounding the pool has padded lounge chairs and pink umbrellas and includes a wood-plank section with dining tables and hammock shaded by palms. Lapped by the Caribbean Sea, which remains calm here in most weather, Reduit Beach extends 800m (875 yds) past the resort, with the deepest and flattest section directly in front of the resort. This section is furnished with thatched shades reserved for resort guests. Water sports rentals include snorkeling gear, kayaks, pedal boats, windsurfers, and sailboats. Scuba diving, scuba-diving instruction, snorkeling excursions, water skiing, banana-boating, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, tubing, and sailing lessons are also available for surcharges.
