Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa
Description / Location
One of the Beaches chain of exceptionally kid-friendly resorts, this one attracts former NBA superstar Michael Jordan and his family, as well as less celebrated families from around the world. A diverse staff organizes day and night activities to make certain everyone has a good time.
Augmented by tropical plantings, the Beaches carefully preserves Providenciales' low-scrub flora while augmenting it with tropical plantings, creating a natural environment throughout the resort's 38 acres. A French Village lodging section features an enormous, 4,000-square-foot pool in a formal garden.
The children/teens entertainment center, Pirates Island, includes a pool with water slides and a non-alcoholic swim-up bar as well as a large spa tub. Two other pools, one with adjacent spa tub, and a children's pool are located in a beachside lodging section. Next to the beach, in the resort's center, is an adults-only spa tub with an ocean view for 20 people. The beach is furnished with thatched shelters and lounge chairs with folding shades. JoJo, a friendly Atlantic bottlenose dolphin, frequents Grace Bay, which laps the resort's beach, offering swimmers and snorkelers close-up encounters. (No touching allowed.)
Accommodations
This all-inclusive Beaches Resort offers 453 guestrooms and suites in two sections. One section arrayed along the beach consists of a three-story main building and nine villas: one-story Pine Cay and French Cay; two-story Parrot Cay; and two- and three-story Salt Cay. Villas are closer to the beach than the main building. All beach-section buildings are pale pink. Located away from the beach, the resort's newest section, French Village, consists of seven two- and three-story pastel-colored châteaus with contrasting shutters and metal balcony railings facing an expansive central garden containing a 4,000-square-foot pool. French Village provides its own reception area, a colorful room decorated like a country inn. French Village rooms and suites feature elaborately carved four-poster king beds and two-poster double beds, as well as second marble vanities in dressing areas outside bathrooms. These rooms and suites offer only step-out balconies on upper floors, with patios fronting ground-floor units. All of the resort's rooms and suites are air-conditioned and have ceiling fans. They feature tile floors, area rugs, mahogany and rattan furniture, tropical-colored fabrics, pastel walls, and mahogany accents.

Use of sports gear such as kayaks, windsurfers, and snorkeling gear is complimentary and available on the beach. Snorkeling and scuba diving excursions are available for extra fees to sites on an offshore 17-mile reef and to steep walls for scuba divers to explore. Scuba divers must have certification. Courses for resort-level certification cost $70 per guest (fees subject to change) and are valid for up to one year at Sandals and Beaches resorts. Two hard-surface tennis courts are lighted for night play, with racquets and balls provided. Other land-based recreation includes volleyball, basketball (including one court on which Michael Jordan plays during family visits), and shuffleboard. The Beaches' fitness center offers a range of equipment and aerobics classes. Provo Golf Club 3 miles away is an 18-hole championship layout featuring target fairways amid a rugged landscape of water inlets and limestone outcroppings. More than 2,500 palm trees, pink flamingoes, herons, and waterfowl contribute to the exotic ambience.
