Description / Location

This Spanish-style hotel draws big groups and watersports fans as it is set on ten acres adjacent to 95-acre Sand Key Park. The park has two picnic shelters with grills; a playground, and dog park. Cabana rentals, beach wheelchairs, outdoor showers, boardwalks, and bathhouses, are available on the beach. A lifeguard is on duty daily. On-site amenities include a splash pool, children’s pool, and playground. A fitness center with sauna is also on site, and facial and massage treatments are available there as well. Boats and jet skis can be rented, and tennis and beach volleyball are other popular activities.

Accommodations

This nine-story Sheraton offers 390 guestrooms. All accommodations feature Sheraton Sweet Sleeper beds with extra-thick, plush-top mattresses; triple sheeting; fleece blankets, plump duvets in rich colors, and five down/feather pillows. Furnishings are light maple. Amenities include safes, Hansgrohe showerheads, bathrobes, high-speed Internet access (surcharge), and 27-inch TVs with Nintendo consoles. Sliding glass doors open to a private, furnished balcony or patio. Refrigerators can be requested for a surcharge.

Restaurants & Bars
 
Rusty’s - International specialties and Florida favorites served. Menu includes mustard-crusted salmon; lamb shank, lollipop pork chops (caramelized shallots, balsamic demi-glacé, and fruit salsa); seafood, steaks, pasta, and vegetarian selections. Menu also includes appetizers such as fois gras, crab cakes, and shrimp cocktail. Breakfast and dinner served.
Island Grill - Lighter fare includes shrimp scampi, vegetarian quesadilla, or the "guilt-free" burger (char-grilled burger with grilled tomato, salsa, cottage cheese, and chipotle tortilla). Open for lunch and dinner.

Activities

This Florida resort has an adult splash pool which is heated in the cooler months. There is also a children’s wading pool. A staffed fitness center on the ninth floor (surcharge) has several treadmills, and cardio and strength-training equipment; large windows overlook the Gulf of Mexico. Two massage rooms and a sauna are located in each of the locker rooms. An on-site tennis complex has three lighted, all-weather courts. The resort’s tennis program accommodates players of all levels, with a daily schedule of clinics and teaching programs, twice-weekly round robins, and a player matching service. Dolphins can be seen from the property or by taking commercial dolphin watching boat excursions.
