5* Cheeca Lodge
Description / Location
Since 1946, the Cheeca Lodge and Spa has attracted sportsfishing enthusiasts such as sportscaster Curt Gowdy, General Norman Schwarzkopf, and President George H. W. Bush, as well as families seeking active vacations. "Barefoot elegance" is the theme, and it's evident immediately in the lobby, which features a wood-beamed ceiling, wood-paddle ceiling fans, plush seating, and lots of plants. Most facilities are smoke-free. Waves lap a palm-lined, 1,100-foot, white-sand beach furnished with tiki torches and thatched cabanas. A classic wood pier jutting 525 feet into the Atlantic Ocean is ideal both for fishing and moonlight strolls. Guests swim in a saltwater lagoon, a large family pool, or a 25-yard adult lap pool. The hotel also has a 9-hole golf course and six lighted tennis courts. Water-sports rentals, sunset cruises, and fishing trips are available (surcharges for all).
Accommodations
Cheeca Lodge offers 199 guestrooms in 15 three-story white buildings with elevators, ground-floor breezeway parking, and distinctive blue roofs. Rooms are decorated with brightly colored fabrics and pastel prints on white walls and have air conditioning, wood-paddle ceiling fans, plasma TVs, CD players, and DVD players. Amenities covered in the resort fee include wireless Internet access and housekeeping gratuity. All rooms are nonsmoking.
