Description / Location

Duck Key comprises five islands joined by Venetian-style bridges. Hawk's Cay occupies one of the islands, a 60-acre residential/resort/marina development created in the 1950s, featuring West Indies-style buildings. Mature tropical gardens throughout the resort include Royal Poinciana and Birds of Paradise trees. Low-rise and low-key, Hawk's Cay draws active families and celebrating couples. A calm lagoon provides saltwater swimming, with small kayaks available for kids and thatched canopies on the beach for adults. The resort contains five freshwater pools, including three for families, one for adults only with an expansive sundeck, and a children's pool containing fountains, water cannon, and a pirate ship with water slides. Guests interact with Atlantic bottlenose dolphins inside their saltwater pen (fees).

Accommodations

This smoke-free resort has 177 guestrooms in three three- and four-story buildings and 269 two-story, two-bedroom villas. Guestrooms and villas have West Indies-influenced decor and artwork depicting the Florida Keys. All accommodations offer air conditioning, ceiling fans, coffeemakers, and cable TV. Patios and balconies are available in some rooms and offer views of Duck Key or the Gulf of Mexico. Hotel guestrooms provide high-speed Internet access (surcharge); villas provide dial-up Internet access (surcharge).

Restaurants & Bars

WatersEdge - Located at marina with ocean view. Informal, air-conditioned dining room with Caribbean décor and outside seating on deck. Seafood, steaks, pasta. (Will cook fish caught by guests.) Open for dinner only.
Palm Terrace - Open mornings for breakfast buffet and à la carte menu, with air-conditioned dining room and outside seating on covered decks with ocean views.

Activities

The resort's marina offers deep-sea and flats fishing trips, snorkeling and scuba-diving excursions, Jet Skiing, waterskiing, parasailing, and sunset sailing cruises. Rental equipment is available for all activities. Bicycle rentals are available for exploring the five islands of Duck Key. Eight lighted tennis courts are on site.
