Description / Location

Hidden in a private compound, this tranquil, charming little hotel attracts celebrating couples seeking a restful, memorable holiday. (Children under age 16 are not permitted.) The owners are avid orchid growers, and many flowers are on display in the gardens. Shopping, dining, and entertainment are 1 block away on Duval Street, where bar hoppers do the "Duval Crawl" from place to place every night. The hotel compound encompasses two restored 19th-century residences and two modern buildings of the same style. All buildings are two stories without elevators. The hotel maintains its own orchid nursery and features orchids and other blossoms throughout carefully tended tropical gardens. For celebrations, Heron House offers its house-label champagne on ice

Accommodations
 
This hotel has 23 guestrooms and suites in four two-story buildings without elevators. Each room and suite is unique and individually decorated with such features as stained-glass windows and original Florida Keys watercolors. All rooms offer tropical ambience with rattan furniture, pastel fabrics, and tile or marble floors. Smoking is permitted outside only.

Restaurants & Bars 
 
All guests have the option of a complimentary Continental breakfast buffet served every morning adjacent to a mini rain forest and complimentary wine and cheese served every evening next to the pool. The hotel does not have its own restaurant, but there are several dining options within the surrounding area. Nearby restaurants:  Catch Café, Café Marquesa, Café des Artistes. 

Activities 
 
Three miles from the hotel, popular Smathers Beach has a water-activities center renting Jet Skis, sailboats, kayaks, snorkel sets, and other gear. Parasailing is also available for a fee.
