Description / Location

The resort attracts families seeking the pleasures of water sports, swimming, and nature walks. The lobby has tall windows and a central elevator shaft constructed of white coral. Behind the hotel, a quarter-mile boardwalk trail winds through 12 acres of "tropical hardwood hammock," which contains many rare and endangered species and are named after an Indian word for "shady place." Amenity highlights: Surrounded by dense, blossom-festooned foliage, the hotel complex offers a small, secluded, private white-sand beach edged by coral formations. Lounge chairs can be set in the sun, under tall shade trees, or in the shallow Gulf water. Two swimming pools, one for adults only, are separated by rocks and cascading waterfalls. Surrounded by a high wall and flowering garden near the adult pool, an eight-person spa supplies secluded soaking.

Accommodations
 
Located in three sand-colored buildings of four stories each, the Sheraton's 200 guestrooms have private, step-out balconies with a table and two chairs. Most offer ocean or tropical forest views. Amenities include high-speed Internet access (surcharge).

Restaurants & Bars

Parrots Tapas Bar - Large, multi-level dining room with rattan-and-blue-leather seating; open for dinner. Located on the main building's third floor with forest and Gulf view. Extensive list of tapas and cocktails. Live music and dancing nightly.

Activities

A water-sports center at the beach rents jet skis, Hobie Cat sailboats, paddleboats, kayaks, and snorkeling gear. It also arranges snorkeling excursions, parasailing flights, eco-tours of the Everglades and other areas, and sunset cruises. The Sheraton includes two lighted tennis courts.
