Description / Location

Built by Florida developer Henry Flagler on Key West's south shore in 1920, the resort is listed on the National Historic Register. Arrayed along a 1,100-foot private beach, it's marked by tropical gardens and sculpted hedges. Guests have access to facilities and services at a nearby resort, The Reach. The Atlantic Ocean beach offers sunbathing and sports opportunities. Coral along the shore, however, makes wading difficult, so the resort provides a pier from which to enter the water and an offshore raft for diving and sunning. The resort has two swimming pools, one especially for children, and a 12-person spa tub. Expansive sundecks are furnished with padded lounge chairs.

Accommodations
 
The resort offers 311 guestrooms and suites in three, four-story buildings. Room décor varies but includes pastel walls, tropical-print fabrics, and carpeted floors. Ceiling fans and crown molding lend rooms classic resort style. All rooms provide minibars, multi-line phones, and complimentary midweek newspapers. Internet access is available via the TV and both wireless and high-speed wired networks (surcharge for all).

Restaurants & Bars

Flagler's Patio - Terrace seating under blue canopy. Open for à la carte breakfast and Sunday brunch.
Sun Sun - Open-air wood pavilion located between the pools and beach. Umbrella tables. Lunch menu of salads, sandwiches, light meals, and tropical drinks. Dinner menu features local seafood, steaks, and chops.

Activities

The resort has three lighted tennis courts. Bicycles, scooters, jet skis, sailboats, kayaks, and snorkel and scuba gear are available for rent. Parasailing, wakeboarding, and waterskiing are also available on the beach for a fee. From the resort's pier, guests can join snorkeling, scuba-diving, and dolphin-viewing excursions; go deep-sea or flats fishing; and sail aboard a catamaran at sunset (surcharges apply). Use of the facilities at a companion property two blocks away is also included.
