Popular with families, business travelers, and cruise-ship passengers from nearby Port Everglades seeking a pre- or post-cruise stay on the beach, the Yankee Trader provides a relaxed, informal ambience exemplified by the overstuffed seating under ceiling fans in the air-conditioned lobby. A 75-by-35-foot pool and expansive sunning area with ocean views is on the palm-fringed, second-story deck in the North Tower. From there, a skybridge spans the main street that runs parallel to the ocean, with an elevator providing access to the 11-mile-long beach. On the South Tower's ground floor, a secluded, 50-by-25-foot garden pool offers peaceful sunbathing.

The 459 guestrooms and suites of the Sheraton Yankee Trader Beach Resort offer views of the beach and the Atlantic Ocean, or the Intracoastal Waterway and the city. All rooms offer The Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed: custom-designed, extra-thick, plush-top mattress dressed with three sheets, fleece blankets, plump duvet in rich colors, and five goose down/feather pillows. Bathrooms offer curved shower rods for extra elbow room. All rooms offer cable TV, pay movies, and video games (surcharge). Multi-line phones have voice mail. Restaurants & Bars

Shula's On The Beach - Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Owned by Don Shula, the legendary former Miami Dolphins coach, this large, steak-and-seafood restaurant features polished wood, white linens, and a bar equipped with televisions for watching sports. Terrace seats look over the street to the ocean.
North Pool Bar & Grill - Grilled sandwiches, salads, and tropical drinks during daylight.

The Sheraton's third-story sports deck offers tennis, basketball, shuffleboard, bocce, hopscotch courts, and Ping-Pong tables.
