Description / Location

The Royal Plaza in the Walt Disney World Resort has been transformed over the last few years, and has a bright and airy tiled lobby. Guestrooms are divided between a 17-story main tower with a glass-enclosed elevator, and two-story lanai wings. The lively hotel is popular with families in town to visit the nearby theme parks, but the hotel also has more than 17,000 square feet of meeting space for business functions. The large, L-shaped, heated swimming pool has a spa tub nearby. Guests can also use a fitness center, arcade room, and tennis courts.

Accommodations

Renovated in early 2006, the 394 Royal Plaza guestrooms and suites are decorated in a blend of tropical and contemporary styles. Most have either balconies (second floor) or patios (first floor) overlooking the resort's grounds or the theme park.
Sitting areas include sofa beds. Beds feature the premium "Royal Bed" package: pillowtop mattress, duvet with satin accents, and an abundance of pillows. Bathrooms have Roman tubs. Refrigerators are based on request and availability (surcharge). Due to a limited supply, cribs also are based on request and availability.

Restaurants & Bars

Giraffe Cafe - Open from early morning until late at night, this casual restaurant serves an ample breakfast buffet and American cuisine. The tropical ambience includes varnished wood floors and colorful accents.
Giraffe Tavern - Located just off the lobby, this tavern is open for drinks, appetizers, and light dinners. The TVs generally are tuned to sports.
SIPS Pool Bar - This pool bar, open seasonally, specializes in tropical drinks and serves snack foods and light fare.

Activities

This Lake Buena Vista hotel features an outdoor pool, a fitness center, and two tennis courts. Guests have preferred tee times at all five Walt Disney World golf courses, as well as access to other resort activities including fishing, boating, parasailing, and even surfing in Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.
