Description / Location

A sunny, airy lobby greets guests at this casually elegant beachfront hotel from the 1940s, where the original terrazzo floors are complimented by modern deco-style furniture and fresh tropical flowers. Business travelers and families wander through an outdoor garden area and around the pleasant pool and beach area. Friendly front desk service extends to the traditional complimentary Doubletree cookie on check-in. The hotel has direct beach access, and freshwater fans enjoy the outdoor pool. There's an outdoor bar for drinks and snacks, and poolside massages by courteous staff. A restaurant provides indoor/outdoor seating and light tropical cuisine for all three meals. The Surfcomber is a popular spot for photo and TV filming. On any given day, guests are likely to see an MTV or commercial shoot in the pool area.

This Doubletree Surfcomber Hotel features 185 guestrooms decorated with earth-tone fabrics and wood furnishings. Some rooms offer views of the hotel pool area. Rooms feature the Sweet Dreams® by Doubletree Sleep Experience bed, which includes a plush-top mattress that is triple sheeted with high-thread-count linens; a down comforter; and a supply of jumbo pillows. All rooms have multi-line telephones with voice mail, cable TV, and wireless Internet access (surcharge). Other amenities include bathrobes, coffeemakers, and MP3-compatible clock radios. 

Restaurants & Bars

Terrazos - This bright spot by the pool serves tropically influenced cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Sample menu items: conch fritters, grilled mahi-mahi caesar salad, fried Florida grouper sandwich, and jerk chicken breast.
Collins Bar - Dim lighting and luxurious suede and leather banquettes set the scene at this lobby bar where cocktails and appetizers are served. An adjoining atrium area features a billiards table free for guests.

Activities

The hotel's beachfront features concessions for Jet Skiing, parasailing, and other water sports. Nearby fitness centers (within one half-mile) offer discounted day passes for hotel guests; runners can get another view of the beach from the Miami Beach boardwalk behind the hotel. An 18-hole public golf course is less than five minutes away by car.
