Description / Location

The Tradewinds lobby opens into an airy, sky-lit 8,000-square-foot garden atrium bordered by 23-foot palm trees. Meandering waterways shaded by abundant vegetation are filled with white swans and Nile Perch. Tropical-view rooms are non-smoking only. Amenities include a day spa, four Har-Tru tennis courts, four pools and one children's pool; a fitness center, and a business center. Indoor and outdoor event space totals 56,000 square feet. The KONK (Kids Only, No Kidding!) kids’ club offers a variety of crafts, games, entertainment, and activities (surcharges apply).

Accommodations

The Tradewinds Island Resort offers 585 guestrooms and suites, all of which have tropical decor. Guestrooms have wet bars, and suites feature kitchenettes equipped with mini refrigerators, microwaves, toasters, sinks, and place settings for four. Bathrooms have granite counter tops; other amenities include desks and video-game consoles (surcharge). Some suites have balconies.

Restaurants & Bars

Flying Bridge - Set above the resort's meandering canal, this authentic floating Florida cracker cottage is open for lunch and dinner, serving snacks, salads, burgers, grouper, chicken sandwiches, and tropical drinks.
Awakenings Coffee and Spirits Bar - Located in the main garden atrium, this bar is surrounded by two rows of 23-foot palm trees. Coffee drinks and pastries are available in the morning; cocktails, cordials, wines, and spirited coffee drinks in the afternoon and evening.
Bermudas - Overlooking the beach, this restaurant with whitewashed woodwork and white napery offers aged Angus beef, fresh Gulf seafood, and shellfish. Open for breakfast buffet (seasonally) and à la carte menu, as well as dinner. Children’s menu available.
Palm Court - An elegant bistro combining contemporary eclectic with such traditional favorites as beef, lamb, chicken, seafood, and pasta, all with an extensive wine list. Serving Sunday brunch and daily lunch and dinner.
B.R. Cuda’s - A beachfront sports bar offering appetizers and light fare from chicken wings to dim sum. Open for lunch and light dinner.

Activities

Located on a seven-mile stretch of white-sand beach, the resort has five pools: one covered, two family pools, one adults-only pool, and a children's pool with wading area. There are four Har-Tru tennis courts, a playground, a children’s club called Kids Only No Kidding, hammocks, life-size lawn chess set, and supervised children’s programs (surcharge). The TradeWinds Action Zone (T.A.Z.) offers a variety of daily activities for adults (surcharge). The resort's fitness center has treadmills, elliptical cross trainers, recumbent and upright bikes, cable crossover machines, a Nautilus circuit, free weights, Body Master equipment, and aerobics classes. Guests can explore the resort's meandering canal on paddleboats. Parasailing, sunset sails, snorkeling, water skiing, wave runners, and other water-sports options are available beachside (surcharge).
