Guests of this resort are eligible for complimentary Disney’s Magical Express Service – motorcoaches take you from Orlando International Airport to your Disney Resort hotel, while Disney picks up your bags and take them straight to your room.This unique Disney resort is reminiscent of a wildlife-reserve lodge on the African savannah. Arriving guests are greeted in a three-story lobby with a crackling fireplace, hand-carved wood furniture, and authentic African artifacts. As the sun sets, two outdoor patios flanking the lobby provide close-up views of exotic animals, including giraffes, ostriches, impalas, and zebras. Simba’s Cubhouse provides supervised children's activities and the resort has a children’s pool, playground, and game arcade. The Zahanati Massage & Fitness Center features Cybex exercise equipment and free weights, and offers spa and massage treatments for an additional fee. Guests can ease their way into the resort’s zero-entry outdoor pool, which has a 67-foot-long slide and two spa tubs.

Accommodations

The Animal Kingdom features 1,293 guestrooms, all decorated in the spirit of the African wilderness. Hand-carved wood furniture from Africa, wood-paddle ceiling fans, earth tones, and wall hangings combine to evoke an African atmosphere. All rooms have private step-out balconies, many with views of the pool, the resort, or the savannah where exotic animals roam. Guestrooms include dial-up Internet access, hair dryers, irons and ironing boards, cribs, and table and chairs. Refrigerators are available on request (fee applies).

Restaurants & Bars

Jiko - The Cooking Place - This restaurant serves African cuisine along with South African wines, and is open for dinner only. Jiko’s specialty is creative American cooking with a blend of multicultural influences—from the Mediterranean coast, India, and Europe—including seafood, steak, chicken, and vegetarian offerings.
Boma - Flavors of Africa - Designed to replicate an African marketplace, Boma offers buffet-style breakfasts and dinners. Open kitchens allow guests to watch the culinary team prepare salads, vegetarian dishes, grilled seafood, and roasted meats—inspired by the varied flavors of over 50 African countries.
Mara - Open daily from early morning till late evening, this quick-service food court serves hamburgers, salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and beverages to go.
Victoria Falls Lounge - A quiet spot overlooking Boma - Flavors of Africa, this lounge offers specialty coffees, teas, and other beverages.
Uzima Springs - Poolside - Cold beverages and a variety of frozen specialty drinks are served poolside next to the resort’s main zero-entry pool.

Activities

The most popular activity here is observing the exotic animals that wander the resort’s savannah-like grounds. Guests can stop by the hotel’s savannah viewing areas to catch glimpses of giraffes, ostriches, impalas, and zebras. Folks also gather at the large zero-entry pool; its gently sloping entrance is handy for young children and guests who don’t have full mobility. A 67-foot-long slide zips swimmers into the center with a splash. There’s also a children’s pool, 24-hour playground, game arcade, and two spa tubs on site. Supervised children's activities take place at Simba’s Cubhouse (surcharge applies), and guests of all ages can venture off on a cultural safari or watch the animals roaming about the savannah. The Zahanati Massage & Fitness Center has Cybex exercise equipment, treadmills, stationary bikes, and free weights as well as steam rooms and saunas. Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park are both one mile from the resort via complimentary Disney transportation. The resort’s guest service desk can assist with reservations on any one of Disney’s five tour-caliber golf courses, all located on Walt Disney World® Resort property. A 9-hole course is also available.
