With its signature five-story Greek dolphins and 27-story pyramid, Walt Disney World Dolphin offers an inspired welcome to leisure travelers and families. Designed by architect Michael Graves, the hotel has a circular, towering lobby with an indoor fountain with dolphin statues, elaborately draped overhead canopy, and colorful murals. Guests enjoy a grotto pool with waterfall and waterslide, a children’s pool, three outdoor spa tubs, two outdoor lap pools, and a white-sand beach. Other leisure options include a health spa (surcharge), tennis and basketball courts, and a health club (surcharge). Complimentary shuttles are available to the Disney Parks, and Extra Magic Hours allow guests to enter a selected park one hour early each morning and stay up to three hours after normal park closure.
Accommodations
The hotel's 1,508 guestrooms are located in a 27-story pyramid and a 14-story building. The Michael Graves-designed rooms have contemporary decor with light-wood furnishings and colorful artwork. All rooms offer Heavenly Beds with custom-designed, foot-thick pillowtop mattresses; triple sheeting; down blankets, comforters, and duvets; and five pillows. Other amenities include high-speed Internet access (surcharge), 27-inch TVs with premium channels, minibars, complimentary daily newspapers available in the lobby, laptop-compatible safes, and coffeemakers. Rooms have Heavenly Bath therapeutic spa showers with adjustable jets, makeup mirrors, and separate vanities and bath areas. Refrigerators are available on request.
Restaurants & Bars
Shula’s Steakhouse - Sports memorabilia from the Miami Dolphins’ 1972 season decorate the walls of this popular steakhouse. Menu favorites include Certified Angus Beef, signature 48-ounce Porterhouse, and seafood. Dinner served nightly; lounge open from late afternoon until late evening.
Todd English’s bluezoo - This stylish restaurant specializes in fresh seafood such as sashimi-grade tuna steak, swordfish, and surf and turf. Dinner served nightly; lounge open from late afternoon until late night.
Fresh Mediterranean Market - Meats and poultry are cooked on a rotisserie in the open kitchen. A pastry station provides freshly baked croissants, French baguettes, Danish, and desserts. Open for breakfast and lunch.
The Fountain - Offering homemade and soft-serve ice cream, burgers, salads, and sandwiches. Open from late morning until late evening.
Activities
Walt Disney World Dolphin has an expansive water complex with a grotto pool with waterfall and waterslide, a children’s pool, two outdoor lap pools, three spa tubs, and a white-sand beach. Floats, towels, and beach accessories are available for rental in the Cabana Beach Hut. Camp Dolphin provides supervised nighttime children’s activities (surcharge) such as arts and crafts and bead making. The health club (surcharge) has stationary bikes, treadmills, stair machines, strength-training equipment, saunas, and steam rooms. Other recreation options include a video arcade (surcharge), sand volleyball courts, a basketball court, and four lighted tennis courts. With meditation and tea gardens, the Mandara Spa (surcharge) specializes in Asian-inspired treatments. Guests enjoy preferred tee times at the five golf courses in the Walt Disney World Resort, including the 18-hole Lake Buena Vista Golf Course, four miles from the hotel. Bike and watercraft rentals are available at Disney’s Boardwalk, adjacent to the hotel. Disney’s Fantasia Gardens miniature golf course is across the street.
