5* Shangri La Kowloon
Description / Location
Smartly uniformed door staff welcome guests into the lobby, where China traders, fashion buyers, and financiers mingle with local celebrities. Huge, richly colored murals depict the mythical Himalayan kingdom of Shangri-La, while Venetian chandeliers and Italian Statuario marble floors reflect a European gentility. Classical music in the afternoons and light jazz in the evenings draw a loyal local following for afternoon tea or cocktails. The harbor backdrop provides an impressive setting for many of the hotel restaurants, which range from Italian to a tapas bar. Recreational facilities include a 25-foot indoor lap pool, and a well-equipped fitness center with solarium and sauna. Wireless Internet access is available in public areas, and a 24-hour business center and extensive meeting facilities accommodate business needs around the clock. The promenade in front of the hotel is a great jogging path, and is also popular among local tai-chi practitioners, anglers, and courting couples. Dusk and dawn are the best times for a stroll to take in the harbor’s sights and sounds.

The 700 guestrooms all feature floor-to-ceiling bay windows with city, harbor, or garden views, as well as a light, European-influenced decor with Asian accents.
