Day 02
After breakfast visit the Rock Fortress of Sigiriya
The remains of Sigiriya constructed by King Kasapa I (437-491 AD) whom the
Mahavansa introduces as a pricide. On the west of the rock are ponds, the remains of summer palaces and other structures, and the first part of the ancient road, which leads to the summit.
P.M. Excursion to Polonnaruwa, the medieval capital of Sri Lanka Polonnaruwa rose to fame as the capital after the decline of Anuradhapura. Its period of greatness was from the 10th – 12th centuries AD. The entire landscape of the region is punctuated by huge man made reservoirs, veritable seas the most famous of which is the Parakrama Samudra or the sea of Parakrama.

Day 03
After breakfast excursion to Anuradhapura
The best known of Sri Lanka’s cities, it was the capital of the island for more than a thousand years from the 5th Century BC. A number of Buddhist monuments here date back over 2000 years. Mihintale, regarded as the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, is situated 13 kms north of Anuradhapura.

Day 04
After breakfast leave for Kandy via Dambulla visiting the Rock temple, a spice garden and a batik factory en-route. This vihara known in ancient times as the Jambukolalena vihara is situated on top of the rock of Dambulla. Here are cave inscriptions of the 2nd century BC.
Inside several drip ledged caves have image houses have been constructed. The structures here have been renovated by Vijayabahu (1055-1110 AD).
P.M. city tour of Kandy
Kandy, which was the last independent kingdom of the Singhalese kings, is the most important place for the present Buddhist because of the sacred tooth relic temple. Kandy is also the most beautiful city of sri lanka with it’s picturesque lake built by it’s last king it’s hills surrounding the city.

Day 05
Today we will visit the Pinnawelle Elephant Orphanage The Elephant Orphanage near Kegalle, 20 km (12 miles) west of Kandy on the Colombo Highway, where young orphaned or abandoned elephants are cared for.
The herd usually numbers about 50, from tiny infants (tiny in elephant terms, that is) to hefty adolescents and young adults. The best time to visit is between 10:00 and midday, and 14:00 and 16:00, when the keepers bring their charges down to the river to bath and play
P.M. a leisurely walk around the Royal Botanical Gardens,the Royal Botanical Gardens consisting of 147 acres and during World War 2, this was the head quarters of Lord Mount Battern, Governor of the British Empire

Day 06
After breakfast, check-out and head towards the southern coast for your beach extension or leave in time to catch your flight home.
