About a 3 and a half hour drive south from the airport, Heritance Ahungalla is located in a quaint fishing village and nestles amidst coconut groves that lead to one of the finest beaches in Sri Lanka. Formerly known as the Triton, Heritance Ahungalla opened its doors after an extensive refurbishment program in May 2006. Being the handiwork of world renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa, Heritance Ahungalla has now been restored to its former glory as a premier five star property. Expertly managed by Aitken Spence Hotels, Heritance maintains its signature design with its sprawling lobby dominated by the endless swimming pool which merges into the sea.

Accommodations

The 154 tastefully decorated rooms have hues of black, beige and gold creating an aura of elegance and sophistication, and are equipped with satellite TV, mini bar, piped music, and tea/coffee making facilities. All rooms have partial sea view offering picturesque seaside vistas. The suites also boast of fragrance menus and pillow menus, thus offering the epitome of luxury to the discerning traveller.

Restaurants & Bars

A coffee shop-"Mustard", a fine dining restaurant-"The Upper Room", as well as 24-hour room service provides for dining experiences of both Eastern and Western cuisine. Nightly entertainment programmes scheduled includes cultural shows and bands performing lively Western and Sri Lankan music.The main restaurant is "Jute Restaurant".

Activities

As for sports and recreation, the hotel has two sprawling swimming pools, a fully equipped gymnasium, floodlit tennis, badminton and volleyball. Water sports could be arranged locally. Guests are also afforded the luxury of pampering themselves at the international spa chain – the Six Senses Spa, which is due to be opened in May 2007.
