4* Lighthouse Hotel
 

Description / Location

One of Geoffrey Bawa's earliest and most famous works of architecture. Designed to harmonise with the natural beauty of its surroundings, the Lighthouse combines luxury hotel with an ayurvedic spa. A most distinctive feature at the hotel entrance is a sculptured metal ballustrade enclosing a spiral staircase which sweeps to the roof top.  It depicts a tale of the Dutch invaders, featuring  the Sinhala king playing his flute and life- size horsemen in battle.  
The hotel sits on a rocky outcrop above the beach with terraces sweeping down to the golden sands and the Indian Ocean. The hotel sits alongside a natural reef and bay which is safe for swimming nearly all year round.  The large pools and adjoining sundeck  allow you to enjoy an unterrupted view of the blues and greens of sea and sky.  Or stroll down through the gardens to the beach side and the Serena spa.

Accommodations

60 well furnished and spacious rooms each laid with polished teak floors throughout. The large kingsize beds with complimentary modern teak bed heads are dressed with beautiful hand painted covers depicting the many Dutch coats of arms. Brightly coloured  window shutters and settee cushions liven up the white walls and  give a real feeling of a beach hideaway.

Restaurants & Bars

Cinnamon Room - Fine dining with a menu including honey-glazed sea scallops, hot pots, calamari, tuna, crab, poultry, pork, lamb, beef. Vegetarian options also offered. Flamed coffees.
Cardamom Café - 24-hour restaurant offers soups, sandwiches, pasta, Asian cuisine, desserts.
Anchor Bar & Grill - Salads, soups, grilled and fried foods, Sri Lankan rice and curry dishes.
Sweet Tooth - Poolside bar and café.

Activities

Lighthouse Hotel & Spa offers a freeform outdoor pool, a smaller oceanfront pool, a children’s pool, outdoor lighted tennis courts, squash courts, table tennis, indoor board games, and a health club with fitness equipment and aerobics classes. The Spa offers wraps as well as other body treatments, and an extensive massage menu that includes Ayurvedic, aromatherapy, Thai, and sports styles. The Spa also provides homeopathic treatments.
