Located 10 minutes from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, just a 2 1/2-hour flight from Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort is a tranquil retreat offering 495 recently renovated rooms and suites, seven restaurants and bars, and a wealth of enjoyable recreational opportunities for families and leisure travellers.
The resort will soon be home to CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La, a luxurious private spa experience based on traditional Asian healing philosophies. Opening in November 2007, the spa will comprise 5 individual Island Villas, 3 Couples’ Villas and an open Yoga Pavilion, all located on Pulau Bayu, the resort’s private island.

Accommodations

Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru resort comprises 495 luxurious rooms and suites in two wings, the Kinabalu Wing and the Tanjung Wing. All rooms have been recently renovated to provide contemporary luxury inspired by the colours and textures of traditional Borneo. Kinabalu Seaview rooms and suites offer memorable views of the either the ocean or Mount Kinabalu. Rooms in the Tanjung Wing face the South China Sea.

Restaurants & Bars

Café TATu - Wide range of Asian and Western cuisine. A la carte or buffet. Part of the restaurant opens out to the gardens, which offer sea views. The enclosed air-conditioned section features floor-to-ceiling windows.
Peppino Restaurant - Italian restaurant open for dinner only. Features appetizing pastas, pizza, breads, salads, soup, and a range of fresh local fish.
Shang Palace Restaurant - Two private dining rooms for business dinners or family celebrations. Comprehensive menu includes classical Cantonese dishes as well as fine local seafood and fresh vegetables, poultry, and meat. Dim Sum is available during lunch on weekdays, and breakfast on weekends and public holidays. Open daily except Mondays. Open for breakfast on Sundays and public holidays only.
Coco Joe’s - Unique restaurant cum bar with snacks, light meals, and refreshing drinks. Special sunset drinks and snacks during happy hour. Barbecue and steamboat are available for dinner.
Sunset Bar - Catch the sunset and a cool cocktail at this relaxing beachside spot, perched on the edge of the South China Sea. A great place to meet your fellow guests.
Blue Note - Blue Note, the resort nightspot, features live band and top DJ performances nightly, a wide selection of signature cocktails, the largest shooter and single malt whisky menu in Kota Kinabalu, an extensive wine and cocktail list, and a championship nine-ball pool table.

Our signature spa, CHI, opening in November 2007 is the largest and most luxuriously appointed spa in Sabah. Each treatment takes place in a personal spa villa on our private isle of Pulau Bayu, allowing you to indulge your senses in spacious and private surroundings.
