Disney's Beach Club Resort

Add a touch of understated elegance to the summer ambiance of the turn of the century summer homes found on Martha’s Vineyard, and you have Disney’s Beach Club Resort. The pale blue and white three- to five-story buildings, with their fancy cut shingles, French doors and seashell motifs, were designed by renowned architect, Robert A.M.Stern. Designed “stick-style”, this was a popular architectural style for seaside wooden cottages in the 1860’s and 1870’s. Decorated with the white wicker furniture, natural Spanish limestone flooring and 24-foot high ceilings, the seacoast imagery continues on to the outdoors where beachside cabanas line the white sand shores of Crescent Lake. The landscaping is also reminiscent of a New England style with magnolias, Japanese elms, Bradford pear trees, crepe myrtle, gardenias and roses lining the courtyards and walkways. This deluxe resort is joined in the center by Disney's Yacht Club Resort.
Beach motif is the obvious order of the day here. Hues of sea foam green, peach, blue and white lend a casual, bright and breezy atmosphere to the 583 guest rooms. Most of the guest rooms are 380 square feet and offer 2 queen sized beds, or one king sized bed, daybed (or Sico bed), nightstand, table with 3 chairs, armoire, television, small key-operated wall safe, telephone, wall mirror, make-up mirror, mini-bar and double sinks. Roll-away beds may be requested at no charge. Also available are bed boards, bed rails, cribs (the pak-n-play variety) irons and ironing boards, hair dryers, coffee makers (supplies may be limited), down pillows, extra pillows, blankets and towels, heating pads, high chairs and International Electrical Adapters, call Housekeeping. The rooms also have French doors leading to the patio or balcony. A limited number of handicap accessible rooms are available.
Another of the many benefits to staying at Disney's Beach Club Resort, is the wide variety of dining options within walking distance. Nearby are Disney's BoardWalk Resorts, Disney's Yacht Club Resort, the Swan and Dolphin hotels, and the Epcot® World Showcase restaurants that can offer a multitude of culinary delights. However, at Disney's Beach Club Resort itself, you’ll find Beaches and Cream and the Cape May Café. Beaches and Cream is a 50’s style soda fountain, complete with a reconditioned Wurlitzer jukebox that plays tunes from the 50’s and 60’s. Old-fashioned favorites are offered for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast hours are 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and fresh baked goods, bagels, and coffee are served. From 11 a.m. until 11 p.m., lunch and dinner are offered. Standard American fare, hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, and every delicious ice cream concoction you can dream of, are served here.
Disney's Beach Club Resort shares the best pool complex on property with Disney's Yacht Club Resort, Stormalong Bay. This is like a 3-acre mini-water park and there are many areas to explore. The waterslide is housed in a shipwreck and empties out into the larger pool area. There is an area with pulsating water jets and a lazy river where you can float along the current in inner tubes. One of the most unique features of Stormalong Bay is the sandy bottom of the pool. There are several secluded spas around the complex as well as a kiddie pool complete with a mini-water slide. Open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., lifeguards are on duty for the entire time. Note that diaper-age children are required to wear plastic pants or swim diapers. In the off-season, the pool is heated to 82º. Lockers available are 9” by 11” in size and are 50 cents to rent.
