Description / Location
The Pimalai Resort & SPA is built on a splendid 100 acres of hilly land of lush tropical forest with direct access to a 900 meters pristine sandy beach. A great emphasis has been placed by the architects to preserve the environment when designing the low rise southern style buildings and this results today in a resort complementing the setting rather than competing with it. The property is located approximately 1h40 minutes from Krabi International Airport and is reached by the resort’s private minibus and cruising boat. The accommodation of restful low-density and of a southern style design, are nestled in this magnificent lush tropical forest, overlooking Ba Kan Tiang bay.
Accommodation
The resort currently offers 79 elegantly appointed rooms, suites and villas with a contemporary Thai style design, a superb infinity-edge freshwater swimming pool, a PADI dive center, a gym with high quality fitness equipment, a library lounge offering speed internet access and two shops. Food and Beverage facilities include, “Baan Pimalai” restaurant, a casual elegant dining venue offering international cuisine, “Spice’N Rice” proposing classic Thai cuisine, “Rak Talay” bar & restaurant, located right on the beach and offering great snacks and the freshest grilled seafood; the Lobby bar, the Pool Bar and two small meeting rooms (8 & 24 persons) for executive meetings complete the facilities.
Restaurants & Bars
Baan Pimalai Restaurant - The main restaurant offers an outdoor dining area with sweeping views of the resort's infinity-edge swimming pool, the landscaped gardens and the bay. A great breakfast buffet is served daily whilst lunch and dinner "a la carte" menus offer both Thai and Western dining choices.
Spice N Rice Thai Restaurant - This air-conditioned Thai restaurant offers classic Thai food dining. Authentic around Thailand fare and traditional favorites such as 'Tom Yum Goong', are prepared with the freshest ingredients, artfully presented and full of flavor.
Rak Talay Beach Bar & Restaurant - This bar and restaurant, is located right on the beach, nestled beneath towering trees from where guest can take in the sweeping views of the Andaman Sea and gentle southern breezes. The menu features casual light snacks, including salads, pasta pizzas and great sandwiches. In the evenings guest can choose from an abundant array of fresh, succulent seafood caught locally. Grilled, steamed or fried the chefs are there to prepare your favorite dish to your liking.
The Seven Sea Wine Bar & Restaurant - Located on the upper level, The Seven Seas Restaurant provides a sea view that is unparalleled and an elegantly styled facility that is unbeatable. The restaurant and its show kitchen offers a comprehensive "a la carte" fusion style dinner menu which means that superior ingredients from all over the globe are marinated, cooked and served together on the same plate - generating a symphony of flavors in perfect harmony. A wide-ranging collection of international wines has been assembled from which you can select an ideal accompaniment to your meal.
The Banyan Trees Poolside Cafe - Adjacent to the spectacular 50 meters long infinity-edge pool, this al fresco restaurant is a great place to enjoy all-time favorits, including wood-fired pizzas; it is also the perfect place for admiring the nearby tropical forest, the wide stretch of beach below, the islands on the horizon, the amazing sunsets and, after dark, the lights of the many fishing boats dotting the ocean... and, all of this while sipping on one of our great Pina Colada or Matai drinks.
Activities
A range of activities and excursions are available from the resort. Our guest relation officer will be delighted to arrange to guide you in your choice.
Elephant Trekking - There are a few Elephant camps on the island and yes, you can experience the joy of riding your own elephant in Koh Lanta. Don't forget to bring a couple of bananas with you.
National Park Trekking - The park is located some 6 kms from Pimalai at the southern tip of the island at the end of a spectacular, although bumpy, coastal drive. It's a great walk going through fabulous trees and Gibbons type monkeys are usually there to welcome you.
Water Sports - Available free of charge, are canoes, windsurfs, sailing boat and boggy boards. There are no motorized water sports (jet skis, water ski) available on the island.
Island Excursions - A number of small islands are part of the Lanta Marine National Park; they are protected islands and offer great snorkeling trips! Regular excursions are arranged throughout the week in Koh Rok, Koh Kradan, Koh Haa, Koh Gnai where vast coral reef with brightly colored fish and sea life can be seen. Koh Muk is renowned for its Emerald cave; a 60 meters long tunnel that runs through a mountain and leads to a lagoon at the bottom of a sheer vertical shaft in the mountain. All islands destination are subject to weather and sea conditions.
Thai Cooking Lessons - Our classes have become hugely popular; Learn a few famous recipes that you can take back home; you will cook yourself under the guidance of one of our Head Chef; you will also receive a recipe guide booklet, a souvenir Pimalai cooking apron to take home and if you do really well, our Chef will hand over to you an official "Arroy Dee" cooking certificate! This could lead you to set up your own Thai restaurant back home!

Pool Villas:
The Pool Villas are situated some 60 meters above sea level in a serene rainforest and offer unrivalled ocean
views, magnificent sunsets and all round total privacy. All Villas have steep door-off from the terrace and
infinity pool so parents with young children who wish to book such Villas should be aware that they will have
to be especially vigilant in safeguarding their young ones from these potential dangers.

Getting to Pimalai on board Hotel Transfers by land & speedboat:
Hotel's own Transfers by shared minibus & resort cruising boat with refreshments served
Note: the shortest and easiest transfer is by using Krabi Airport as opposed to Phuket
Hotel boat calls at the hotel's own jetty at Hua Hin on the mailand year round, south of Krabi (c. 50 minute boat ride)
High & peak season: speedboat will depart from or drop off at hotel's floating pontoon jetty directly on the beach
Low season: in bad weather or rough seas, there will be a short transfer overland to Lanta pier (on island's protected mainland facing east coast) where the boat will depart from
For safety reasons our boats do not operate from 20.00 - 05.00 hrs; however our land transfers can still be arranged to meet the first and last ferry crossing times.
