About our New York Holidays

They don't come any bigger than the Big Apple - New York is truly a unique destination to visit. It has world-class museums, statues, enormous buildings, one of the most amazing shopping experiences in the world, not to mention the abundance of night life!
It's hard to put a finger on what makes the place buzz so much, but the city's hyperactive rush keeps drawing more and more people to it.

In a city that is so much a part of the American dream, it's pretty hard to pick a few highlights. You can't surpass the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Central Park and Times Square. The Museum of Modern Art is one of the world's top museums, and the Guggenheim Museum and American Museum of Natural History aren't far behind. Bookshops, food, theatre, shopping, people: it doesn't really matter what you do or where you go in New York because the city itself is an exhilarating experience. Whether you want to shop in the world famous Macys or Bloomingdale's, or visit the spectacular shows on Broadway, there certainly is something for everyone in the city that never sleeps.

New York has some of the greatest shopping in the world. You can take advantage of the many shopping opportunities that the city offers. The Big Apple has a wide variety of stores selling merchandise in every price range from expensive jewellery, antiques, exclusive works of art, to the latest designer fashions to bargain priced jeans, shoes and t-shirts.
Nothing is quite like shopping on Fifth Avenue where you will find Tiffany's, ot there is Macy's , the world's largest department store, on 151 West 34th Street, which is located at Herald Square.
Other great uptown shopping can be found on Third Avenue, where Bloomingdale's is located at 1000 Third Avenue at 60th Street.

Most of Manhattan is extremely easy to navigate, thanks to a grid system of named or numbered avenues running the north-south length of the island, cut across by numbered streets that run from east to west. Above Washington Square, Fifth Ave and Central Park serve as the dividing line between the East Side and the West Side. Cross-street numbers begin at Fifth Ave and grow higher toward each river, generally (but not exclusively) in 100-digit increments per block. Broadway, the only avenue to cut diagonally across the island, was originally a woodland path; it runs in some form from the southern tip of the island all the way to the state capital of Albany, 240km (150mi) away.
It is an ideal city to visit if you want to travel around on foot, however you are never far from hailing one of the infamous yellow cabs.

We at Kenwood Travel would recommend that after a long days shopping, that you take a relaxing cab ride back to your hotel - they are cheap and easy to find - the ideal end to a hard days shopping.
