This Boston hotel, designed in the spirit of a 1960s-era motor lodge, offers underground parking, a homey lobby with literature about nearby restaurants and attractions, and indoor hallways that connect guestrooms around a courtyard to an outdoor swimming pool. The hotel is popular with businesspeople and European guests seeking a no-nonsense, convenient spot for visiting colleges and touring historic Boston. The bell staff is available 24 hours a day to help with directions and offer suggestions about nearby restaurants. The hotel has 2,300 square feet of meeting facilities and a restaurant for private functions. The Midtown Hotel is only two blocks from the Boston Marathon route and about five blocks from the finish line. It’s wise to be at the route early for a good spot. Directly across the street from the hotel are the Christian Science Center and its lovely Mapparium, where guests may walk through an impressive, 30-foot-diameter, stained-glass globe of the world, as it existed in 1931.
