Accommodations
Spread over two wings and six floors, the 540 guestrooms all feature sliding-glass doors that open to private, furnished lanais. Island decor includes teak woods, Hawaiian botanical prints, and tropical accents. Amenities include minibars, high-speed Internet access (surcharges apply for most room categories), in-room safes, and video games (surcharge). Microwaves and refrigerators are available on request (surcharge). Marble bathrooms have double vanities, phones, scales, bathrobes, and separate showers and tubs. Guests of Fairmont Gold room categories have access to the Fairmont Gold Lounge, including complimentary Continental breakfast, Hawaiian-style afternoon tea service, evening appetizers, and use of a computer and printing services in its business center.
Restaurants & Bars
Kahakai Bar - Kahakai means 'beach' in Hawaiian and this new beachside bar features a Polynesian-style thatched roof. A variety of tropical libations and mouth-watering pupus (appetizers) are served.
Ocean Bar - This poolside spot in the shade of milo trees serves tropical drinks, pupus, and casual island fare from late morning until late evening.
The Luana Terrace - Comfortable contemporary outdoor seating and expansive ocean views are yours at The Luana Terrace, located on the Lobby Level adjacent to the bar.
Brown’s Beach House - This open-air oceanfront restaurant features Hawaiian cuisine with fresh local ingredients. Casual lunches include Hawaiian-style crab cakes, linguine with Kauai shrimp, and crab and avocado salad; dinner selections include kiawe-grilled seafood and soft-shell crab. Open for lunch and dinner, with nightly Hawaiian music and hula shows.
The Grill - Live Hawaiian music, rich koa woods, white linens, and a starlit terrace create a romantic ambiance in this fine-dining restaurant.
The Orchid Court - This breakfast restaurant serves daily buffets and à la carte items in an open-air setting with tropical garden and waterfall views.
Luana Lounge - The Lounge's new contemporary residential decor rambles through indoor/outdoor seating areas, inner bar and lanai overlooking the grounds and the blue Pacific.
Norio’s Sushi Bar & Restaurant - With tables overlooking koi ponds, this intimate dinner restaurant features fresh sushi, teriyaki, tempura, and a selection of sakes and wines.
Activities
Resort staff can assist guests with snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, and other water sports; fees apply. Cultural and nature hikes are also available (surcharge). Complimentary water-aerobics classes are held in the resort's 10,000-square-foot freeform pool each morning. Other facilities include a children's wading pool, two outdoor spa tubs, and a fitness center. Guests have access to 10 tennis courts, with a pro shop and instruction available; fees apply.
For a one-time per-person fee, guests may obtain an optional activity pass that includes snorkeling, beach, and kayak equipment; yoga, surfing, and tennis lessons.
The Fairmont Orchid is adjacent to the Francis H. I'i Brown Golf Course, which features two 18-hole, par 72 golf courses with ocean views and green fairways patterned with black lava.
