Kona Village Resort on the Kohala Coast of Hawai‘i’s Big Island is the perfect mix of relaxation and rejuvenation. Watching green sea turtles gather each afternoon on the sandy shoreline is delightful while a SCUBA dive to one of dozens of nearby sites directly offshore is breathtaking. Add windsurfing, kayaking, seasonal whalewatching, petroglyph tours and more, and suddenly, there is not enough time in the day!

This Hawaiian hideaway of 125 individual thatched-roofed hale (ha-lay, bungalows) offers opportunities to explore and enjoy water sports with complimentary snorkeling gear, kayaks, boogie board and surfboard use. A tennis workout with the seasoned pro at the complimentary Fitness Center, or a luxurious spa massage, are options while children find their own diversion via the resort’s complimentary “Na Keiki (children) in Paradise” program offered daily (except May and September).

Accommodations

Royal Category Hale:
For panoramic ocean views, Royal category hale (cottages), in architectural styles including Maori, Tahitian and two-room Hawaiian and Marquesan, offer unrestricted dining and many include whirl pool spa on private lanai (deck).

Garden Category Hale:
Palm trees, tropical foliage and tranquil lagoons are the views offered from picturesque Garden category hale. As though escaped to a private island, a variety of Polynesian architectural styles offer Garden views.

Standard Category Hale:
Offered architecturally as our Chief Tahitian, Hawaiian or Fijian styled-hale, most standard category hale are centrally situated within our 82 acres amidst lush landscaping.

Superior Category Hale:
Maori, Samoan and Marquesan architecture can be found in superior category hale. The hale are located on the 1801 lava flow creating a dramatic, surreal setting, as well as on the sandier southern side of the resort, and in the lush greenery surrounding the ancient fishing ponds of Ka‘upulehu.

Deluxe Category Hale:
Many guests find our deluxe category hale most to their liking with their location at the resort’s southern end set aback but still within a moment’s walk of Kahuwai Bay. These hale are offered in the Maori, Hawaiian and Tahitian style architecture.

Restaurants & Bars

Two oceanfront dining rooms, Hale Moana and Hale Samoa, offer cuisine that highlights Hawaii's fresh ingredients, from the ocean and the land. The talented culinary staff weaves flavors of the Pacific with French Polynesia to create tantalizing meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Tuesday evenings Kona Village celebrates the Big Island's cowboy culture at Paniolo Night with food, music and song. Wednesday and Friday evenings we are home to the island's longest running luau, our award-winning aha'aina at Hale Ho'okipa.

Shipwreck Bar serves up refreshing libations 11:00 until 5:00 p.m. daily. Talk Story Bar offers beverages and light a la carte meals from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. daily. And Bora Bora Bar features live entertainment from early evening until 10:00 p.m. nightly.
 

Activities

Our expansive beach and crescent shaped bay offer a refreshing balance of fun and privacy. A marine sanctuary, our bay is rich with ocean life including yellow butterfly fish and blue tangs as well as Hawaiian green sea turtles

Exploring comes naturally at Kona Village Resort. Guests enjoy complimentary unlimited use of non-motorized water sports equipment such as snorkels and masks, kayaks, sailboats and body boards. Extra fees apply to guided adventure tours and private instructions.

Snorkel, dive, sail or windsurf. And coming soon - you can explore the coastline on our new 24-passenger Ribcraft (Rigid Inflatable Boat) to destinations previously "out of range."

The healing spirit of Ka`upulehu flows through the hands of our Health Spa staff. Our massage rooms in the Fitness Center feature open-air lanai with waterfalls to add a soothing, tranquil sound.
