Description / Location

The Sahara opened in 1952 and was one of the first hotel casinos in Las Vegas. Compact for easy access to all facilities and attractions, the hotel draws guests seeking less noise and the slower pace of a different era. Surrounded by a sundeck, palm trees, and fountains, a heated pool is open spring, summer, and late autumn. A 15-person spa tub is set beneath a fligreed wrought-iron dome, next to the pool.

Accommodations

The Sahara offers 1,108 deluxe rooms in the Tangiers Tower. Brightened by jewel-colored fabrics, guestrooms include dining tables and two chairs; makeup areas with desks and mirrors, and tub/shower combinations. All accommodations have individual climate control, voice mail, cable TV and pay movies, and hair dryers. Wireless Internet access is available for a fee.

Restaurants & Bars

House of Lords - Steak and seafood. Posh ambience of draped fabric, plush booths, and jeweled lighting.
NASCAR Cafe - Two-level restaurant. Features race cars hanging from ceiling; giant projection screens showcasing televised NASCAR races. Menu includes ribs, chicken, steaks, pasta, and burgers.
Paco's Bar & Grill - This restaurant specializes in Mexican fare and seafood.
Sahara Buffet - All-you-can-eat buffets are available here for brunch and dinner; champagne brunch served weekends.

Activities

The Platters, Cornell Gunter’s Coasters, and Beary Hobb’s Drifters return to the stage in the legendary Congo Room with some of the top 20 hits from the 50s and 60s. Performances are seven nights a week in the Sahara’s Congo Room; show time is 7:30 PM. Prices start at $34.50, plus tax and service charges (schedule and prices subject to change). Tickets are available at the Sahara Hotel and Casino Box office. The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply. Bicycle rentals, Mountain biking, Skydiving, Helicopter/airplane sightseeing, Hiking/biking trails, Golf - driving range, Golfing, Boating, Fishing, Tennis, Horse riding/rental and Aerobics.
