4* Stratosphere
Description / Location
Rising 113 stories, the tower is the tallest free-standing structure west of the Mississippi River. Elevators whisk guests to indoor and outdoor observation decks with 360-degree views of the mountain-ringed desert valley. At night, the valley becomes a neon sea. This hotel appeals to both budget-minded vacationers and families. The tower offers a revolving restaurant, a lounge, and "The Big Shot" ride, in which thrillseekers are thrust up the tower's needle and repeatedly dropped down. "Insanity", the newest ride, holds 10 passengers in "escape-proof" seats as it spins at 40 miles per hour. Other amenities include cabanas furnished with a ceiling fan, television, telephone; padded lounges can be rented around the large, eighth-floor rooftop pool, which contains basketball hoops and a volleyball net. A 12-person, freeform spa tub is provided, and within the pool complex is a fitness center with an outdoor free-weight area.
Accommodations
Guestrooms at this Las Vegas hotel offer muted-tone decor to complement sand-colored walls. Each room contains either a desk and two chairs or a table and two chairs, and provides a tub/shower combination. Wireless Internet access is available for a surcharge.
