Description / Location

The contemporary Ameritania Hotel includes a lobby with mahogany paneling, cast-iron columns, chandeliers of floating silver discs, hand-painted murals, and vinyl chairs with flared backs. The hotel draws leisure travelers seeking ready access to Broadway theaters and Midtown attractions. Twist Bar, a contemporary bar/lounge with gas fireplace, opens nightly and includes complimentary self-serve espresso, tea, and coffee 24 hours a day. Wireless Internet access (surcharge) is available throughout the hotel. The Ed Sullivan Theater, home of the David Letterman Show, is around the corner from the hotel. Tapings usually take place Monday through Thursday, and advance tickets are not required.

Central Park, five blocks north of Ameritania Hotel, offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including ball fields, tennis courts, rowboat rentals, horseback riding, and miles of trails for hiking, biking, running, and in-line skating. Rockefeller Center's skating rink, five blocks south, opens in winter, as does Central Park's Wollman Rink. Nearby athletic clubs offer swimming, racquet sports, and exercise classes. A golf driving range is located at Chelsea Piers two miles west of the hotel.
