Description / Location

Dating from the 1920s, an updated Grand Hyatt New York includes a vast marble lobby, gold columns, and mirrored ceiling. A waterfall cascades from the lobby's upper level to a marble fountain in the lower. The lower lobby connects directly to Grand Center Terminal's shopping arcade, which leads into the main concourse. For dinner, Commodore Grill & Lounge offers a seasonal menu of American dishes. The breakfast/lunch restaurant has a glass wall for observing 42nd Street's heavy pedestrian traffic.

Grand Hyatt New York offers 1,311 guestrooms in a 25-story building. All rooms include Hyatt’s signature Grand Bed with Sealy Posturepedic pillowtop mattresses; 250-thread-count triple sheeting; down comforters; decorative throws; and an array of European, roll, and throw pillows. Large desks have ergonomic chairs and two-line cordless telephones. (Two-line telephones are at bedsides, also.) Wireless (surcharge) and dial-up Internet access are available. Amenities include pay movies, CD player/clock radios, and compact refrigerators on request. Granite/marble bathrooms contain shower/tub combinations, telephones, and Portofino toiletries.

Grand Coffee Bar - Lobby sport offering takeaway coffee, pastries, sandwiches, tea, juices from early morning to mid-afternoon.

Activities

Central Park, 1.25 miles north of Grand Hyatt New York, offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including ball fields, tennis courts, rowboat rentals, horseback riding, and miles of trails for hiking, biking, running, and in-line skating. Rockefeller Center's skating rink, seven blocks away, opens in winter, as does Central Park's Wollman Rink. A golf driving range is located at Chelsea Piers sports/entertainment complex on the Hudson River 1.75 miles west of the hotel.
