Opened in 1924 and named after President Theodore Roosevelt, the Roosevelt Hotel New York offers a 1920s ambience that includes original Tiffany crystal chandeliers, gilt trim, coffered ceilings, and wrought-iron balconies overlooking the lobby. In a hushed atmosphere of heavy drapes and elaborate decor, patrons dine at leisure in the Roosevelt Grill surrounded by photographs and drawings of Theodore Roosevelt. The relaxed pace extends to the Madison Club Lounge, which offers Starbucks coffee and pastries in the morning and lunch and dinner later.
 
Accommodation

The 19-story Roosevelt Hotel offers 1,015 compact guestrooms. Desks come with upholstered swivel chairs, multi-line phones, and high-speed Internet connections (surcharge). Televisions offer pay movies, video games (surcharge), and video check-out. Bathrooms contain shower/tub combinations or stall showers without tubs. Decor includes period furniture and scroll-print bedspreads. Complimentary weekday newspapers are delivered to guestrooms.

Roosevelt Grill - Fine-dining restaurant with heavy drapes, photos and drawings of hotel's namesake, Theodore Roosevelt. Buffet and à la carte breakfasts; à la carte lunch and dinner. American fare with choices such as steak, fish, beer-braised short ribs.
Madison Club Lounge - Clublike ambience with leather seating, gas fireplace, plasma TVs, copper bar. Starbucks coffee and pastries in the morning. Lunch/dinner choices such as pizza, pasta, sandwiches, salads, steak frites. Bar service to late night.

Activities

The Roosevelt Hotel’s complimentary 24-hour fitness center contains cardio machines, a weight machine, and free weights. Central Park, 0.75 mile north, offers tennis courts, rowboat rentals, horseback riding, and miles of trails for hiking, biking, running, and in-line skating. Rockefeller Center's famed skating rink, three blocks away, opens in winter, as does Central Park's Wollman Rink. A health club across the street provides a discount to guests.
