Description / Location

Formerly a residence for single women, Thirty Thirty Hotel retains a residential ambience. A high-ceilinged lobby decorated in pale tones includes globe lights and colored panels framed in brushed aluminum. (The hotel's name derives from its address, 30 East 30th Street.) Offering a cozy ambience that includes white tablecloths and fresh flowers, an independently operated restaurant/bar serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Its Mediterranean menu includes brick-oven pizza. Sidewalk tables are available in warm weather. When the hotel was a women's residence and named Martha Washington Hotel, author Jacqueline Susann lived there, and she mentioned it in her 1960s bestseller, Valley of the Dolls. The hotel also was used as a setting for the book's movie version.

Accommodations

Thirty Thirty Hotel offers 253 guestrooms in a 12-story building. Each room includes the hotel's signature teddy bear. All rooms provide high-speed Internet access (surcharge). Other amenities include clock radios, coffeemakers, daily newspaper delivery, and safes large enough to accommodate laptop computers.

Restaurants & Bars

Zana's - Independent restaurant/bar with white tablecloths, fresh flowers. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Mediterranean cuisine with choices such as brick-oven pizza, pasta, seafood, chicken. Bar service to late night. Sidewalk seating in warm weather.

Activities

Central Park, 1.5 miles north, offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including ball fields, tennis courts, rowboat rentals, horseback riding, and miles of trails for hiking, biking, running, and in-line skating. Rockefeller Center's skating rink, 0.75 mile away, opens in winter, as does Central Park's Wollman Rink. A golf driving range is located at Chelsea Piers 1.25 miles west of the hotel. Neighborhood athletic clubs offer exercise classes and swimming pools.
