Renovations to the historic Savoy Hotel have imbued it with a playful new California spirit—from the welcome shot of frosty tequila offered at check-in, to the quotes about San Francisco that cover the walls. This boutique hotel is popular with theatergoers and Europeans, as well as foodies who flock to the Millennium restaurant for haute vegetarian cuisine. The hotel is entirely nonsmoking. Guests gather in the lobby each evening for a complimentary wine-and-cheese reception. The award-winning, independently operated Millennium restaurant serves fresh, imaginative fare prepared without animal products or genetically modified ingredients.
 
Accommodation

The seven-story Savoy Hotel has 83 guestrooms and suites, all nonsmoking. Beds feature pillowtop mattresses and 400-thread-count linens. Decor includes vintage California posters and ceiling murals. Rooms and suites have double-paned windows, ceiling fans (no air conditioning), laptop safes, dial-up Internet access, and clock radios with CD players.

Restaurants & Bars

Millennium - Celebrated vegetarian and vegan restaurant open nightly for dinner. Imaginative dishes such as Savory Parsnip Flan, Plantain Torte, Grilled Abalone Mushroom Paella, all created without animal products or genetically modified ingredients. Desserts such as Warm Banana Crępe with Creamy Pecan Sorbet. Decor fashioned from mostly recycled materials. Bar with extensive all-organic wine list. Independently owned and operated, the Millennium restaurant is also the setting for daily Continental breakfast (surcharge), prepared by the hotel.
 
Activities

Visitors can get good seats at some of the city’s top theaters at the TIX booth, located in Union Square, three blocks away. TIX offers limited half-price, day-of-performance tickets for shows ranging from national tours of Broadway musicals to small local productions.
