Sri Lanka is a fairly small island but its diverse landscape offers the traveller a varied mix of activities from beach life to safari life.
A trip to the Yala National Park is like walking through a real life version of Rudyard Kipling’s ‘A Jungle book!’ With an array of wild animals to be seen from monkeys to elephants, its vast patches of grassland and dry woodland are well worth investing a bit of time in at this safari hotspot.
Standing at over 240 meters the Bambarakanda waterfall really is the pinnacle of the 103 waterfalls Sri Lanka has to offer. A trip here is a nature lover’s paradise. Surrounded by a forest of pine trees, the rugged terrain and open tea fields make it a real scenic beauty.
A trip to the beach is a must in Sri Lanka and there are so many to choose from catering for everyone’s taste. Bentota beach is the place to go for all your water sports. Hikkadua beach pulls in a younger crowd and is the place to go for surf and a late night party atmosphere. If you are searching for something a little more tranquil, go west to Kalapitya where you can watch dolphins and whales swim by. You will feel like you’re on a desert island oasis.
